Celebration!

Celebrating success is a crucial part of becoming and sustaining a professional learning community. When done well, celebration not only expresses admiration and appreciation for the recipient but also communicates and reinforces what is valued in a school, provides living examples for others to emulate, fuels the momentum essential to improvement initiatives, and nourishes our spirit for the journey ahead! Research has consistently demonstrated that celebrating small wins is essential to successful change initiatives, yet as Harvard’s Rosabeth Moss Kanter concluded, celebration is “probably the most underutilized tool in organizations.”

Solution Tree is proud to announce the publication of a new book, edited by renowned PLC authority and celebration advocate Rebecca DuFour, to collect and celebrate the ingenuity and creativity of educators across North America. We want to know how teachers, principals, central office administrators, and school boards celebrate students, staff, and the community—what you do to acknowledge, stimulate, and reward improvement, achievement, and effort.

Submit your proven strategies electronically by September 26, 2008 by and filling out the Celebration Strategies Form.

Instructions:
1. Fill in the requested information
2. Save and email the completed form to pubs@solution-tree.com. Only electronic submissions will be accepted.

If your idea is accepted, your name and your school’s name will appear by the entry; you will receive 2 copies of the published book, and your school will receive 5 copies. Winning entries will be announced by November 1, 2008, and may be edited for consistency and style. The published book will be available in summer, 2009.

Your entry should address one of the following seven topics:

  1. Classroom Recognition of Individual and/or Collective Student Improvement, Achievement, and Effort
